This is going to sound counterintuitive, and it certainly runs counter to what I tell my clients, but just SHIP IT! Just go with what you’ve got (messages, website, email campaign copy, whatever).
What’s the alternative? Procrastinate for another week? Ask more people for their opinion? Ask what they think? Request their ‘useful feedback’?
So what’s happening in the meantime? Right, nobody knows who you are or what you do.
Nothing is ever good enough. Everything can be edited, changed, deliberated over… we live in an age of the pursuit of a ridiculous idea of perfection that is UNNECESSARY.
Go with what you’ve got. Change it tomorrow. Or never.
I took the photograph accompanying this post. I had been happy with it for years. However, I’m putting it into an exhibition of my work so I thought I’d revisit it. Edit it. Change it. Was it worth it? Did it enhance the experience of the VIEWER? No, of course not. Did it slow me down and give me enormous grief, procrastination nonsense, and slow… me… down? Yes. Big time. Was it useful? In the grand scheme of things, no, not really.
Yes, you care. Yes, you worry. But do you have more important things to do right that will grow and advance your business?
Yes, of course you do.
